Title VI Notice & Complaint Procedure
Purpose
Your Business receives federal financial assistance and is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any of its programs or activities on the basis of race, color or national origin, as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
This policy sets out how Your Business tells the public about these rights, how anyone may file a Title VI complaint, how complaints are investigated and recorded, and how Your Business carries out its other Title VI responsibilities.
Scope and Funding
Your Business receives federal financial assistance from or through the following sources:
- Federal Transit Administration (FTA), as a direct recipient
- FTA funds passed through a state DOT, MPO or transit agency (subrecipient)
- A contract to operate service for an FTA recipient
Your Business submits its Title VI program and reports to State Department of Transportation, which passes federal funds to Your Business and monitors its compliance.
This policy applies to all Your Business programs, services and activities, to its employees, and to contractors and subrecipients acting on its behalf.
Policy Statement
Your Business operates its programs and services without regard to race, color or national origin. No person will, on these grounds, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any Your Business program or activity.
On the grounds of race, color or national origin, Your Business will not, directly or through contracts or other arrangements:
- Deny anyone a service or benefit, or provide a different or lesser service or benefit.
- Segregate anyone or treat them separately in any matter related to a service or benefit.
- Treat anyone differently in deciding whether they meet eligibility or other requirements.
- Deny anyone the opportunity to take part as a member of a planning, advisory or similar body that is an integral part of the program.
- Choose the site or location of a facility for the purpose of excluding people or denying them benefits.
Your Business will not intimidate, threaten, coerce or retaliate against anyone because they filed a complaint, testified, assisted or took part in an investigation, proceeding or hearing, or otherwise exercised their rights under Title VI.
